JAW FRACTURES

Fractures of the jaw are very common and can be of various types:
  • Favourable or unfavourable
  • Simple or complex
  • May involve the mandibular condyle

Its treatment is carried out with mini-plates following the established anatomical and biomechanical principles. The application of these plates usually takes place intraorally. In this case, the correction of fractures looking for the best is abilização and possible occlusion.

When the mandibular condyle is involved, there are two therapeutic possibilities: a more conservative one, consisting of intermaxillary block for one to three weeks or, alternatively, a more invasive treatment consisting of open reduction. Regardless of the intervention, there must always be a post-surgical rehabilitation plan.
