Aesthetic medicine is defined as the medical-surgical practice that applies the necessary techniques for the recovery, maintenance, and promotion of aesthetics, health, and well-being. Its evolution has focused on acting as minimally invasively as possible and ensuring the quickest recovery.
At the Portuguese Institute of Face, we offer a variety of treatments tailored to your needs. From Facial Harmonization to treatments customized and recommended by specialist doctors in the field, what would you like to address?
AESTHETICS AND WELLNESS TREATMENTS
Wrinkle Treatment with Botulinum Toxin
The Botulinum Toxin is a substance that paralyzes muscle signals.
When injected in small amounts, its aim is to prevent and treat expression lines. It is not indicated for static wrinkles.
The most common areas of application include the lateral sides of the eyes, commonly referred to as “crow's feet,” the forehead, and the glabella, the area between the eyebrows.
The treatment is performed with local anesthesia. Although the results are not immediate, they begin to appear within the first 48 to 72 hours. In the long term, the effects last between 4 to 6 months and do not require recovery time.
MEDICAL CHEMICAL PEELING
Chemical Peeling is performed with the aim of accelerating the cell renewal process. This rejuvenation technique is carried out on an outpatient basis and can be superficial, medium, or deep, depending on the chemicals used.
It is recommended for anyone looking to improve the appearance of fine wrinkles, sun or age-related spots, and even acne-prone skin.
There are some restrictions post-procedure that will be recommended by the specialist during the consultation, but you can still resume your normal activities within the following 24 hours. The procedure lasts about 30 minutes and does not require anesthesia.
SKINBOOSTER - DEEP HYDRATION
Facial mesotherapy involves the injection of a vitamin complex composed of hyaluronic acid and a long list of vitamins and minerals, aimed at hydrating, smoothing wrinkles, and improving the brightness and texture of the skin.
This treatment is recommended for those with dull, dehydrated skin, or skin affected by excessive sun exposure, air conditioning, pool chlorine, and other factors that leave the skin dry. For smokers, it is also an excellent option to revitalize the skin.
The application is almost painless, and the results are long-lasting. On average, five sessions are needed to see the desired results. Afterwards, only a maintenance session is required at the interval recommended by the specialist.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
The Platelet-Rich Plasma or “Vampire Facial” has created a true revolution in the facial and hair fields.
Through a blood draw, a selection of a part with a higher concentration of platelets is made and applied with the intention of stimulating the production of new cells in the area. As a consequence, the treated area becomes fuller in expression lines and reduces wrinkles.
This treatment is an excellent anti-aging option, is minimally invasive, quite safe, and is performed on an outpatient basis.
Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
Hyaluronic acid is a natural carbohydrate produced by the cells in our body. It is used in aesthetics to prevent and treat wrinkles, improve facial contours, and restore volume.
The most common areas of application are the eye area, mouth (filling and around), nose for correction, under-eye area, cheekbones, chin, and jawline.
It is applied with local anesthesia, and the results last for 9 to 12 months.
FACIAL MESOTHERAPY
It is an injectable treatment with micro-needles aimed at improving sagging and softening fine wrinkles. The number of necessary sessions varies and depends on the patient's goals. Generally, it lasts for 18 months.
It is typically applied to the face (except for the lips and eyes) and other parts of the body.
Tension Wires
The thread lifting technique is a non-surgical method that promotes a lifting effect and reduces wrinkles. The threads are primarily placed in the jawline, neck skin, and middle third of the face, and are naturally absorbed by the body.
As an anti-aging procedure, this thread insertion technique is performed in just 30 minutes and yields results lasting up to 18 months.
Factors that influence the success of the procedure include age, individual facial structure, and, above all, the degree of skin sagging.
Photobiodynamic Therapy
Photobiodynamic Therapy is the dream treatment for those suffering from acne, melasma, and rosacea, and it aims to combat skin aging. It is a non-invasive treatment that combines a peeling, a photosensitive serum, and an LED mask.
The technique is non-invasive, and after the skin is cleaned, a chemical peeling is applied to the area being treated. Once removed, a Photodynamic Serum is applied with a special concentration on the most affected areas. Finally, a mask equipped with LED lights of different colors is applied, according to the wavelengths. Depending on the selected protocol, this mask will activate the chemical applied earlier.
Generally, 6 sessions are needed to achieve the desired results, and the need for maintenance will depend on the patient's care. This treatment can be combined with hyaluronic acid fillers, botulinum toxin, lasers, among others.
